Also, Congressman Patronis announced $355 million in new investments for Northwest Florida’s military instillations included in the appropriations package to re-open the government.

The Congressman also implored Senator Chuck Schumer, and far-left radicals that run the Democratic Party, to reopen the government immediately. The United States Navy celebrated its 250th anniversary this year.

Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis issued a statement on the passage of H.R. 4016 – Department of Defense Appropriations Act of 2026 (the Defense Appropriations Act) in the U.S. House of Representatives last night, which allocates more than $851 billion to ensure America’s military superiority around the world, protect the southern border, and fund basic pay increases of 3.8% for all military personnel. The bill includes operation and maintenance funds, building on the Congressman’s request for funding to restore the Blue Angels hangar at NAS Pensacola. Congressman Patronis voted in support of the legislation, which will move to the U.S. Senate for consideration.

Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis filed an Amendment to H.R. 4016 – Department of Defense Appropriations Act of 2026 (the Defense Appropriations Act), which prevents any funds in the Defense Appropriations Act from moving the United States Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, most commonly known as the Blue Angels, from their base in Pensacola, Florida. As currently drafted, the Defense Appropriations Act also provides funding to increase Active-Duty base pay by 3.8%. The Defense Appropriations Act is expected to be considered by the U.S. House of Representatives soon.

Today, Congressman Patronis applauded the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of H.R. 3944 – The Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2026, which allocated more than $152 billion towards critical investments in military infrastructure that support readiness. This bill fully funds veterans’ health care programs, veterans’ benefits, and VA programs, providing more than $452 billion for the Department of Veterans Affairs. That’s more than $82 billion above the enacted level for Fiscal Year 2025. Congressman Patronis voted in support of the legislation.

Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis issued a letter to President Donald J. Trump inviting the President and the entire Trump family to participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony in honor of the newly renamed Gulf of America. The U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 276 – The Gulf of America Act today, which renames the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America and directs all federal agencies to update their documents and maps to reflect the name change. Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis announced his appointment to the United States House of Representatives Committee on Small Business. In addition to the Committee on Small Business, Congressman Patronis is expected to serve on the Subcommittee on Rural Development, Energy, and Supply Chains; the Subcommittee on Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Workforce Development; and the Subcommittee on Oversight, Investigations, and Regulations.

Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis highlighted the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) announcement that it has extended the tax filing deadline for the entire State Florida. While the IRS initially provided an extended tax filing deadline to Florida residents and businesses that were impacted by Hurricanes Debby, Helene, and Milton, now all Florida residents and businesses throughout the state may choose to file their taxes on May 1 rather than the traditional April 15 deadline. Congressman Patronis also provided tips to avoid tax scams this tax season.
