Internships

Rep. Jimmy Patronis’ Internship Program offers Florida students a unique opportunity to experience the inner workings of Congress firsthand. There are two six-week sessions during the summer as well as full-semester internships in both the spring and fall. Interns work during normal office hours: Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 6 pm. Please note that there is no remote work option.

Internships are available in our Washington D.C., Crestview, and Pensacola offices.

Application Dates:

  • Spring:  CLOSED
  • Summer:
    • April 20, 2026 (Pensacola & Crestview)
    • May 1, 2026 (Washington, DC)
  • Fall: TBD

Priority is given to students either from Florida or students enrolled in a Florida school who have completed at least their sophomore year of college. This is a highly competitive program. Due to limited space and resources, not all qualified applicants can be accommodated.

Compensation and Academic Credit

Interns in both Washington, D.C., and the district offices are eligible to receive a housing stipend. Students may also be eligible for academic credit upon approval by their college or university. Students must provide all necessary documentation and indicate any requirements our office must fulfill.

Duties and Responsibilities

Interns assist with regional outreach and constituent relations in addition to normal office activities that include but are not limited to:

  4. Conducting legislative research

What are these options?

Constituents who are deaf and hard of hearing or use a video phone have the option to choose TDD or VP based on the type of device they are using. This allows our office to respond to them accordingly. The default option 'Voice' is a standard audible telephone.
