Congressman Patronis Praises Military Investments in Appropriation Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Patronis praises House passage of H.R. 7148, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, which delivers key investments for Northwest Florida and the nation’s military. The legislation includes $3 million in improvements to a one-mile section of roadway leading to Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, a 3.8% pay increase for all military personnel, and funding to increase the Navy’s active-duty force by 12,300 sailors. Congressman Patronis voted in favor of the appropriation bill.
“This is great news for the Panhandle as we continue strengthening our military bases and delivering meaningful pay raises for the brave men and women who serve our country,” said Congressman Patronis. “Investments like these not only improve vital infrastructure at NAS Pensacola but ensure our service members are properly supported, and our military remains strong and ready.”
This project will provide infrastructure improvements to a one-mile section of roadway vital to Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola and the support of surrounding neighborhoods and businesses. Improvements envisioned during the design process include a vehicle turnaround area near the gate to improve traffic flow to enhance safety at the base
This legislation will increase pay by 3.8% for all military personnel and grow the Navy’s active-duty force by 12,300 sailors. This pay increase will help our military families stay financially secure, strengthen readiness, and send a clear message that we invest in the people who defend our freedom.
Each year, Congress must pass 12 annual appropriations bills to fund the federal government for the fiscal year beginning October 1. These bills provide federal agencies with the budget authority needed to operate and help prevent a government shutdown.
H.R. 7148 now heads to the U.S. Senate for consideration and, if passed, will be sent to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law.
