Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis formally requested that his pay be withheld due to the government shutdown caused by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and the Democrats who have still refused to work with Congressional Republicans to pass a clean Continuing Resolution (CR). The Democrats have previously voted on 13 times. On October 10, federal workers will receive a reduced paycheck due to the Schumer Shutdown. Should the Schumer Shutdown continue until the next pay day on October 24, federal workers will not receive a paycheck until the federal government is reopened. Active duty servicemembers are paid twice per month, the first being scheduled for October 15. Should the federal government not reopen by then, servicemembers will not be paid. Also, in response to the Schumer Shutdown, Congressman Patronis has co-sponsored a bill with Rep. Ralph Norman (R -SC) that would hold Congress accountable for government shutdowns and prevent members from receiving compensation during a shutdown.

Congressman Patronis urged Senate Democrats to stop playing politics and gambling with the lives of Florida families.

Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis announced more impacts to law enforcement and military servicemembers throughout Northwest Florida and the country. On day two of the Schumer Shutdown, the Democrats and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer have still refused to work with Congressional Republicans to pass a clean Continuing Resolution (CR) and end the government shutdown. While Congressman Patronis and Republican leadership continue to put America’s Armed Forces and law enforcement first, Democrats are still demanding $1.5 trillion in additional spending that wastes YOUR money to fund healthcare for illegal immigrants, climate initiatives in foreign countries, and radical radio programs.

Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis issued a statement on the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which included an amendmentfiled by Congressman Patronis that would end the Biden administration’s mandate giving preferential treatment to electric and hybrid non-tactical vehicles over fossil-fuel powered non-tactical vehicles in the military. The NDAA is an annual law passed by the U.S. Congress that outlines the budget, policies, and priorities for the Department of War. The FY26 NDAA codifies President Trump’s executive orders that end woke ideology and DEI in the military and authorizes $892.6 billion for national defense discretionary programs, matching President Trump’s budget request.

Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis warned Floridians about a new scam involving fraudulent “federal warrant” notices designed to intimidate victims into paying money to avoid arrest. These fake documents, which falsely claim to be issued by the FBI or the U.S. District Court, have been reported in Florida and are being used by criminals posing as law enforcement. The scam letter orders recipients to pay bond amounts using Bitcoin kiosks, debit cards, or mobile apps to avoid arrest. Victims are threatened with jail time if they do not comply. The fraudulent document uses fake case numbers, poor formatting, and bogus signatures to appear official.

Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis introduced H.R. 5035 - Housing Our Military Effectively For Readiness, Operations, and Neutralization of Threats Act of 2025 or the “HOMEFRONT Act.” This legislation waives overcompliance that restricts the military’s ability to modernize and improve military housing and protects servicemembers from predatory nondisclosure agreements (NDA) that have prevented the troops from sharing their housing concerns. The bill exempts military family housing and military unaccompanied housing from the National Historic Preservation Act subject to the discretion of the Secretary of Defense. Since the mid-1990s, the Department of Defense (DOD) has spent nearly $28 billion on privatized military housing after finding that nearly two-thirds of its 180,000 domestic family housing inventory was in need of repair, inadequate, or required complete replacement.
