Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis issued a statement on the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which included an amendmentfiled by Congressman Patronis that would end the Biden administration’s mandate giving preferential treatment to electric and hybrid non-tactical vehicles over fossil-fuel powered non-tactical vehicles in the military. The NDAA is an annual law passed by the U.S. Congress that outlines the budget, policies, and priorities for the Department of War. The FY26 NDAA codifies President Trump’s executive orders that end woke ideology and DEI in the military and authorizes $892.6 billion for national defense discretionary programs, matching President Trump’s budget request.

Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis warned Floridians about a new scam involving fraudulent “federal warrant” notices designed to intimidate victims into paying money to avoid arrest. These fake documents, which falsely claim to be issued by the FBI or the U.S. District Court, have been reported in Florida and are being used by criminals posing as law enforcement. The scam letter orders recipients to pay bond amounts using Bitcoin kiosks, debit cards, or mobile apps to avoid arrest. Victims are threatened with jail time if they do not comply. The fraudulent document uses fake case numbers, poor formatting, and bogus signatures to appear official.

Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis introduced H.R. 5035 - Housing Our Military Effectively For Readiness, Operations, and Neutralization of Threats Act of 2025 or the “HOMEFRONT Act.” This legislation waives overcompliance that restricts the military’s ability to modernize and improve military housing and protects servicemembers from predatory nondisclosure agreements (NDA) that have prevented the troops from sharing their housing concerns. The bill exempts military family housing and military unaccompanied housing from the National Historic Preservation Act subject to the discretion of the Secretary of Defense. Since the mid-1990s, the Department of Defense (DOD) has spent nearly $28 billion on privatized military housing after finding that nearly two-thirds of its 180,000 domestic family housing inventory was in need of repair, inadequate, or required complete replacement.
