Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis, who served as Florida’s State Fire Marshal from 2017-2025, cautioned Northwest Florida residents celebrating Independence Day this weekend to keep safety in mind when lighting fireworks. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), fireworks caused more than 32,000 fires in 2023, with children under 15 accounting for 32% of all reported fireworks injuries. Sparklers accounted for more than 50% of all injuries among children under the age of five.

Today, Congressman Patronis applauded the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of H.R. 3944 – The Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2026, which allocated more than $152 billion towards critical investments in military infrastructure that support readiness. This bill fully funds veterans’ health care programs, veterans’ benefits, and VA programs, providing more than $452 billion for the Department of Veterans Affairs. That’s more than $82 billion above the enacted level for Fiscal Year 2025. Congressman Patronis voted in support of the legislation.

Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis filed H.R. 3902 – Restoring Federalism in Clean Water Permitting Act aimed at cutting red tape surrounding the Section 404 permitting process, which often hampers projects that create jobs and support community priorities. This bill mandates that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator review regulations relating to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act that allow states to assume the environmental approval processes. The goal of this review is to identify ways to reduce administrative burdens and to encourage states to manage their own permit programs. Congressman Patronis is a member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I).

Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis issued a letter to President Donald J. Trump inviting the President and the entire Trump family to participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony in honor of the newly renamed Gulf of America. The U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 276 – The Gulf of America Act today, which renames the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America and directs all federal agencies to update their documents and maps to reflect the name change. Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis warned consumers about a surge in real estate deed scams. Fraudsters target vacant or unmonitored homes and use forged documents to sell those properties to unsuspecting buyers. According to the FBI, nationwide, from 2019 through 2023, 58,000 victims reported $1.3 billion in losses relating to real estate fraud. Congressman Patronis also provided tips from the FBI abut how to prevent real estate scams.
