Congressman Patronis Advances Legislation to Crack Down on Fraud

WASHINGTON, D.C.- This week, Congressman Jimmy Patronis (R-FL) voted to advance a package of legislation aimed at rooting out fraud, strengthening accountability, and protecting hardworking taxpayers from government waste and abuse.
"The American people are sick and tired of watching Washington waste their hard-earned tax dollars while fraudsters game the system," said Congressman Patronis. "Make no mistake, much of this fraud was a feature of the Biden administration, a massive wealth transfer from hardworking Americans to criminals who add no value to society. President Trump was elected to restore accountability and drain the swamp, and that starts with stopping fraud before it happens.”
The legislation includes:
- H.R. 8312- Fraud Prevention and Accountability Act: Strengthens efforts to identify and recover taxpayer dollars lost to fraud.
- H.R. 8464- Stopping Fraudulent Payments Act: Gives agencies additional tools to stop improper payments before taxpayer dollars are wasted.
- H.R. 7892- No Aid for Ghost Students Act of 2026: Deters fraudsters from using fake or stolen identities to obtain federal student aid.
Together, these measures crack down on waste, fraud, and abuse. Every dollar recovered from fraudsters or prevented from being stolen is a dollar protected for hardworking Americans who rely on programs like Social Security and Medicare.
