Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis introduced House Resolution 4873 to codify President Donald J. Trump’s executive order to prevent woke Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the federal government. Executive Order (EO) 14319, signed on July 23, 2025, recognizes the advantages of AI use in the federal government while mandating agency heads adhere to the Unbiased AI Principles of “Truth-seeking” and “Ideological Neutrality. The bill is co-sponsored by Representatives Mike Collins, Erin Houchin, and Claudia Tenney.

Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis recognized the month of July as Military Consumer Month. Military Consumer Month was first established by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in 2013 to raise awareness of the financial challenges that active-duty military personnel and veterans face at home and abroad, and warn servicemembers, veterans, and their families to stay vigilant against financial scams and fraud. According to the FTC, military consumers have reported losing more than $584 million to fraud in 2024. Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis issued a statement on the passage of H.R. 4016 – Department of Defense Appropriations Act of 2026 (the Defense Appropriations Act) in the U.S. House of Representatives last night, which allocates more than $851 billion to ensure America’s military superiority around the world, protect the southern border, and fund basic pay increases of 3.8% for all military personnel. The bill includes operation and maintenance funds, building on the Congressman’s request for funding to restore the Blue Angels hangar at NAS Pensacola. Congressman Patronis voted in support of the legislation, which will move to the U.S. Senate for consideration.

Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis filed an Amendment to H.R. 4016 – Department of Defense Appropriations Act of 2026 (the Defense Appropriations Act), which prevents any funds in the Defense Appropriations Act from moving the United States Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, most commonly known as the Blue Angels, from their base in Pensacola, Florida. As currently drafted, the Defense Appropriations Act also provides funding to increase Active-Duty base pay by 3.8%. The Defense Appropriations Act is expected to be considered by the U.S. House of Representatives soon.

Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis, who served as Florida’s State Fire Marshal from 2017-2025, cautioned Northwest Florida residents celebrating Independence Day this weekend to keep safety in mind when lighting fireworks. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), fireworks caused more than 32,000 fires in 2023, with children under 15 accounting for 32% of all reported fireworks injuries. Sparklers accounted for more than 50% of all injuries among children under the age of five.

Today, Congressman Patronis applauded the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of H.R. 3944 – The Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2026, which allocated more than $152 billion towards critical investments in military infrastructure that support readiness. This bill fully funds veterans’ health care programs, veterans’ benefits, and VA programs, providing more than $452 billion for the Department of Veterans Affairs. That’s more than $82 billion above the enacted level for Fiscal Year 2025. Congressman Patronis voted in support of the legislation.

Today, Congressman Jimmy Patronis filed H.R. 3902 – Restoring Federalism in Clean Water Permitting Act aimed at cutting red tape surrounding the Section 404 permitting process, which often hampers projects that create jobs and support community priorities. This bill mandates that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator review regulations relating to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act that allow states to assume the environmental approval processes. The goal of this review is to identify ways to reduce administrative burdens and to encourage states to manage their own permit programs. Congressman Patronis is a member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I).
