Congressman Patronis Advances NDAA to Strengthen America's Military 

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Wednesday afternoon, Congressman Jimmy Patronis (R-FL) voted to advance the Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), legislation that ensures America’s Armed Forces remain the most capable and lethal fighting force in the world. 

“We owe an incredible debt of gratitude to the men and women who wear our nation's uniform,” said Congressman Patronis. “Their willingness to defend our freedoms demands that we give them every tool, every resource, and every advantage needed to accomplish their mission and return home safely. The National Defense Authorization Act helps ensure our military remains the most capable fighting force in the world. I'll always stand with our warfighters, their families, and fight to keep America safe.”

The NDAA includes nearly $135 million in authorized funding for key military projects across Northwest Florida, including:

• $87.8 million to build a new testing facility at Eglin Air Force Base that will help develop next generation military technology.
• $43 million to improve Eglin Air Force Base's power system and microgrid, making the base more reliable and resilient.
• $4.1 million to design a Child Development Center at Naval Air Station Whiting Field, providing better childcare for military families.

The NDAA defends our heroes by:

• Fully authorizing President Trump's top defense priorities and advancing more than 65 executive and legislative proposals.
• Authorizing funding for a 5–7% pay raise and strengthening support for military families.
• Rebuilding military strength with more munitions and next generation weapons.
• Deterring China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea through peace through strength.
• Cutting Pentagon waste while supporting American defense manufacturing and jobs.

The FY2027 NDAA also includes two amendments introduced by Congressman Patronis to support military families and honor American heroes. The first amendment cuts unnecessary red tape so military families can get safer, better housing faster while saving taxpayer dollars. The second amendment honors six World War II heroes by authorizing the President to award them the Medal of Honor for their extraordinary bravery and sacrifice during the Battle of Midway.
