Congressman Patronis Attends North Bay Fire District Medal of Valor Ceremony Honoring Heroic Firefighters
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Tuesday, Congressman Patronis, who previously served as Florida’s State Fire Marshal and has long been an advocate for firefighters and first responders across the state, attended the North Bay Fire District Medal of Valor Ceremony honoring Lieutenant Brett McDaniel and Firefighter Tindell Hart.
On October 30, 2025, during a working condominium fire at Vinings Way, a roof collapse buried two firefighters beneath burning debris. After a MAYDAY went unheard due to radio malfunction, McDaniel and Hart advanced through extreme heat and zero visibility to remove the debris and rescue both firefighters within seconds, actions that prevented a likely fatal outcome and ensured all crew members exited safely.

“Lieutenant McDaniel and Firefighter Hart represent the very best of our service, showing courage and leadership, and unwavering dedication,” said Congressman Patronis. “When the unthinkable happened, they ran toward danger to save their own. Their actions reflect the highest traditions of the fire service, and our entire community is deeply grateful for their bravery.”
The North Bay Fire District and partner agencies, including South Walton Fire District and Destin Fire Control District, demonstrated remarkable professionalism and coordination throughout the incident. The Medal of Valor ceremony stands as a powerful reminder of the risks firefighters face daily and the extraordinary heroism they display in service to others.
